We had a blackout tonight which started at 6pm. I was sleeping in our couch when it happened. All I thought was, our electric power provider must have cut it out coz we didn't pay our 1,369.80 bucks bill yet. It was due last May 30th. I stood up, feeling the sweat running from my neck downward. "Oh, no..." We didn't receive any disconnection notice yet. My cousins were irritably panicking. They called the maintenance person of the condo to check if we have any problems with the wirings. All he said is we need to call MERALCO. Again... "Oh, no." Of all the controversies that's been currently airing on T.V. and over the radio, it's them I least want to hear about. I stopped wanting local news and politics since July of 2006. But that's another story. And as much as I try avoiding these things, other things find ways to remind me of current events... bad and good. Such occurring event is something that affects every household and even an avoider like me. Who wouldn't notice their more than 32 billion overcharge?
I believe that started when they released a new scheme hell I forgot when. That they have the right to control the changes of power charges because 1. the poor peso currency exchange rate can't be controlled 2. the country got few IPP's or Independent Power Producers that could supply electric power. I sigh. I shouldn't care!?
So my cousin had to call MERALCO twice(because I don't like talking with them) to make sure. We had dinner with candle lights and sweating body and underarms. Eeww... Too barbarous. I couldn't imagine my date like that, lol. I had funny and scary conversations with my cousins after. 6 hours later, MERALCO people came in the middle of the night like rescuers in a huge truck. Finally... now I'm writing. After all, I thanked them, I have to.
MERALCO, may liwanag ang buhay. There's light in life. Do you still think so after their years of overcharging?
So you've come this far! Like my post? Buy me gummy bears!:D

uggghhhh Why did you have such a huge electic bill? Was it an error? Yeah, it does suck when the power goes out on a very hot day. How hot is it where you are?
jeff&nova: i used to enjoy it when i was a child. you know, playing with the candles and shadows, lol.
celticspirit: no, it wasnt an error. it would just be like $ 30.88 US. im in a tropical country, lol, its like 25°C to 35°C. but im in a diff city right now with 23°C to 30°C.
